Wrapping Up a Big Year: 2025 in Review
As the year winds down and the holidays approach, the team at Nemean is taking a moment to catch our breath and reflect on what has been a massive year for us.
From Cambridge to Auckland and everywhere in between, we’ve been busy shaping the engineering landscape and tackling complex challenges. Here is a look back at some of our highlights from the past 12 months.
Project Highlights: From Libraries to Heavy Industry
It has been a year of diverse projects, but a few standouts come to mind.
We are eagerly watching the progress on the Ngatea Library. As mentioned in our previous updates, this is a project close to our hearts. Construction is on track for completion next year, and we can’t wait to share the results with you. It is going to be a fantastic asset for the community.
On the heavier side of things, we "smashed out" a major heavy industrial building design in just three weeks. Speed and precision don't always go hand-in-hand in this industry, but our team pulled out all the stops to deliver a superior solution on a tight deadline.
One of our biggest wins this year was in the ground—literally. Our team reviewed numerous external geotechnical and structural reports. By applying a fresh perspective and rigorous engineering analysis, we managed to improve ground condition assessments and structural design costs significantly. For one specific apartment block project, this attention to detail resulted in approximately $200k in savings on construction costs. That is the kind of value engineering we love to deliver.
Growing Nemean
We have been incredibly fortunate to welcome many new clients this year while continuing to support our existing partners. Thank you for trusting us with your visions; bringing them to life is exactly why we do what we do.
Internally, we’ve also been sharpening our tools. We have successfully overhauled and improved our internal Health & Safety procedures, ensuring that we aren't just designing safe structures, but operating safely in everything we do.
Crushing Goals
It wasn't all calculations and CAD drawings this year. The Nemean team has been on a mission to crush healthy lifestyle goals outside the office.
We are proud to report record marathon times and personal bests in climbing grades among the staff! It turns out that the discipline required for bespoke engineering translates well to lifestyle.
Looking Ahead
As we head into the break, we want to say a massive thank you to our clients, partners, and the wider community in Aotearoa. We are poised to make an even bigger impact next year.
